Katherine Benson

Ms. Benson was born and raised in Kingston. She graduated from Queen’s University, where she earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and from York University, where she earned her education degree. Ms. Benson spent two years teaching with the Greater Essex County District School Board in Windsor ON, followed by seven years with the Toronto District School Board, where she taught mathematics and physics.          

Ms. Benson has recently moved back to Kingston and is very excited to join the Leahurst community, where she is teaching Senior Math and Junior Problem Solving. She loves sharing her passion for mathematics and science with others. Ms. Benson enjoys teaching and developing strong inquiry and problem solving skills in her students while sharing her love of learning.

In her free time, Ms. Benson loves spending time outdoors with her family. She enjoys swimming, scuba diving, hiking, and photography. She loves sports and is an avid hockey fan. Ms. Benson has a passion for cooking and baking; she also enjoys quiet time with a cup of tea and a good book.
